Comments Off

On June 10, 2008 Backyard Leisure LLC of Pittsburg, Kansas, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued a recall pertaining to the swing sets on several of its multi-purpose outdoor play equipment. These play units are made primarily of wood, often contain ladders and stairs that allow play at two levels, have attached slides and incorporate gliders and swings. Pictures of the appartus are included in the recall notice.

Backyard Leisure received 114 reports of the hangers for the gliders breaking. Once the hangers would break, the chain would detach causing the glider to break loose and throw the child. At least three injuries were reported.

The following models are subject to this recall:

Pathfinder Wsing Set

Conqueror Swing Set

Create N Adventure Wooden Play Sets

Cedar Ridge Wooden Swing set

Windsor Wooden Swing Set.

These play sets were sold at Wal-Mart and Toys “R” Us nationwide. They run between $400 and $1,500 and were soldfrom January 2008 through May 2008.

If you have one of these swing sets you are advised to immediately stop using them. You may contact Backyard Leisure at 866.546.7902 or go to their website at www.adventureplaysets.com for replacement glider hangers.
