Motorcycle Crash on Main St. Cottonwood

Comments Off

A 61 year-old motorcyclist suffered two broken legs while proceeding northbound on Main St. in Cottonwood, when a 17 year-old turned his car abrubptly in front of him on Friday May 23, 2008.  The 17 year-old claimed he was turning into the gas station at the time.  Unbelievably, no citation was issued to the young driver.

The motorcyclist was air-medi-vac’d to Mercy Medical Center in Redding in serious condition.

MESSAGE TO ALL DRIVERS:  As Spring and Summer approach there is a significant increase in motorcycle traffic on the roads in Northern California.  Driver’s be vigilant of these vehicles.  Statistically, the great majority of car/truck versus motorcycle collisions are caused by inattentive drivers of the cars or trucks.  Note also that local motorcycle dealers have reported an increase in motorcycle sals as a result of escalating fuel costs.  This means more bikes on the road, and more inexperienced riders.  Let’s share the road and be safe!
