A car accident near Sunset Hills put two people into the hospital on Thursday. Three cars were involved in an accident near the scene of another car on fire on Interstate 5. One victim was taken to a hospital in Redding.

According to CalFire officials the three-car accident occurred when drivers were trying to avoid another car that was on fire. While it was unclear early in the investigation what caused the fire, CalFire did say the driver of the on-fire vehicle was able to escape without injury.

The police are still investigating the accident and no citations have been issued. It is unknown if there were any other injuries that did not require hospitalization.
